This competition is open to most BJCP categories (see rules for details) and in honor of our friends at the the John Lyon VFW Post 3150, the NoVA Classic Homebrew Competition will also feature a special competition open only to veterans, active duty personnel, and their dependents called the John Lyon Award. Registration for the 2018 NoVA Classic opens Monday, August 20, 2018.
Judging takes place Saturday, October 20. Awards and prizes for Best of Show, Best Oktoberfest Bier, the John Lyon Award, and many other prizes will be given out at our awards ceremony and BBQ on Saturday October 27, 4-7pm at the John Lyon VFW Post 3150. All entrants are invited to attend the awards ceremony. Be sure to RSVP to our Facebook Event for competition updates!

In 2017, GRiST partnered with the John Lyon VFW Post 3150 in Arlington, VA  to create the NoVA Classic Homebrew Competition, an AHA/BJCP sanctioned competition open to all homebrewers in the DMV area and beyond. Q: What will it cost to enter?

A: It will cost $10 per entry with all proceeds supporting John Lyon VFW Post 3150.

Q: Am I limited in how many entries I can submit?

A: Yes, each brewer is limited to three entries.

Q: Does this limit count if I enter the Veterans/Active Duty Division?

A: Yes.

Q: Is there a limit in the number of entrants for the Veterans/Active Duty Division?

A: Yes, the entry cap for the Veterans/Active Duty Division is 10, with one entry per brewer. 

Q: When will registration open and close?

A: Registration will open on Monday, August 20 and close on either October 12 at 5:00 p.m. or when the 200-entry cap has been reached. 

Q: When and where will drop off be?

A: Drop off will begin Wednesday, September 27 and end Friday, October 12 at 5:00 p.m. All drop offs will be at 3 Stars Brewing Company 6400 Chillum Pl NW, Washington, DC 20012.
